One of 500 copies of the first edition in English of Gide's study of Oscar Wilde, translated by Mason. Also includes a previously unpublished poem by Wilde, an introduction and bibliographical notes by Mason, and a frontispiece and four plates including a couple of portraits and a view of Wilde's gravesite. The hardcover book is bound in the original paper covered boards with paper title and spine labels. The exterior shows wear and soil, and the spine label is illegible. The endpapers are browned, but the interior is very good overall - printed on reasonably good laid paper which is starting to brown a bit but is still supple, and still quite firmly bound (although the binding itself seems rather fragile). There is a former owner's pencilled note on the front endpaper.
